Dear Shakta,

Emmy and I have been watching your DVD - she LOVES it and loves watching you and the children do yoga to your sweet songs.  She's asked me to ask you what "fight nice" means in "What Day is Today?" on the Cozy CD? She calls that song "the calendar song" and she listens to the CD all the time; and every time, she asks me, "What does 'fight nice' mean?" so I've been meaning to write and ask you...  I didn't know how to explain it!

Thanks so much,
Fern R.

Dear Emmy,

Your question shows me that you are a good thinker.  I am glad you are curious about the words to the songs.  I made them for good thinkers like you!

In the song, What day is today,  "fight nice" means that sometimes you have something you need to say that could easily become an argument or "fight", but if you speak to the other person the way that you would like them to speak to you, you can still say what you need to say, and they can hear it.  Then the other person can tell you their side.  It might be hard to hear, but if you remember that they are a person just like you, with feelings just like you, then you can allow yourself to relax and hear them.  This is a good way to work out disagreements and it is a good way to "fight nice".

Tuesday is the day that is ruled by Mars, which is the planet of taking things apart-- or a big word for that is "destruction".  Nothing can stay the same, everything has to come apart so it can become something new.  Just like in the fall the leaves turn beautiful colors and fall from the trees.  Then in the spring they start all over again.  So in an argument, it may not feel good at the time, but it is helping things to "fall apart" so that they can become something new.  This can happen much simpler and is a lot more fun for everyone if both people remember that the other person is the same as you on the inside.

I hope you understand what I am saying.  It was a very good question!

Love,
Shakta
