Radiant Child Yoga Certification Overview


For those interested in becoming a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher, the 200-hour Radiant Child Family Yoga Training allows you to specialize in children’s yoga and be able to teach families yoga as well.

Yoga Alliance announced the formation of the 95-hour Children’s yoga specialty on Oct 10, 2010. Radiant Child Yoga has designed a program that is based on the criteria required by Yoga Alliance, and offers a 95-hour Children’s Yoga Specialty training for those who are RYT-200.

The 20-hour modules that are essential parts of both the 200 and 95 training are open to anyone regardless of whether or not they want to become certified. The modules will also apply retroactively to future Radiant Child Family certification.

200-Hour RCY Family Yoga Certification
95-Hour RCY Children’s Yoga Training

Collaboration with Radiant Child Yoga and YoKid: Radiant Child Yoga's 30 hour basic training program is part of YoKid's 95–hour training program, certified through Yoga Alliance. Alternatively, students of YoKid training program may apply all credit hours toward Radiant Child Yoga's 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified training program.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Radiant Child Family Yoga 200 hour Training (RCFY-200)


Who can apply?

Those with some yoga experience and experience working with children.

For those that are interested in becoming a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher, the Radiant Child Family Yoga training will allow you to specialize in children's yoga, and be able to teach family yoga as well.

After we receive your completed application along with the fee, telephone interview with Shakta will be scheduled to make sure the student and the program is a good match.


 

Step 1: RCY Basic Training levels 1-3
Credit Hours: 30

  • All students, whether in the 95 or 200 program, are required to take the RCY Basic level 1-3 training at any time and location before moving into the certification phase.
  • The 30 hour RCY Basic training counts towards the 95 and 200-hour training.

Step 2: Summer Retreat Intensive 2012
July 19 to July 31, 2012

Credit Hours: 105

The course begins evening of July 19 and ends on July 31 in the afternoon.The summer session consists of 105 hours divided into 12 days with approximately 9 hours of study/practice including morning practice (Sadhana) each day. The daily morning sadhana is from 6:00 to 7:30 and includes Kundalini Yoga and meditation. Daily course work is from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Approximate arrival time on July 19th is 4:00 pm and departure time on July 31 is 1:00 pm. There will be shuttle service from the Dulles airport to the retreat. More details will be provided upon acceptance into the program.

Topics covered in training are:

Yoga Energetics and Anatomy: Experts on subject will teach physical and energetic anatomy of children and adults. Second topic: Kundalini Yoga and Hatha Yoga in-depth study for children and adults. Shakta's books, KISS guide to yoga and Kundalini Yoga, will be thoroughly studied. Special spotlight on Senior Yoga.

The Brain and Yoga: In depth understanding of the connection between the brain and body. Expert on the subject of Brain Gym and Neuro-sensory-motor Reflex Integration will present part of this session. Special focus on Autism and other SPD issues, as well as help for depression, anxiety, insomnia and other similar topics.

Boys to Men, Girls to Women: Appreciation and understanding of the energies of each gender. How to reach into the hearts and minds of boys and girls. Special guest teachers will be children themselves, who will give their perspective on video and in person, if possible.Yoga specific to men and yoga specific to women will also be covered in this section.

Yogic Lifestyle for Youth and Adults: A wide variety of games, songs, dances, art, and other creative tools that inspire a healthy, yogic lifestyle for children and adults. A second focus will be setting up and marketing your yoga business. Bring your creative ideas and resources to share with the group. We will cover everything needed for completion of the certification.

Early Registration Fee 105-Hours only: $1875 paid in full by April 30, 2012. (Save $50)

Regular Registration: $1925, after April 30, 2012

Summer Session must be paid in full by June, 15, 2012.

Tuition does not include travel expenses, food, lodging and materials.

Step 3: Speciality Modules
Credit Hours: 40

  • Each participant is required to complete two Specialty Modules.
  • Each module is 18 class hours with at-home practice of 2 hours for a total of 20 hours.
  • Modules can be taken before or after the 105-hour training. If possible, it is highly recommended that Basic RCY 1-3 is taken before the modules.

Yoga for ADHD, Autism, and Differently-Abled Children

Fee: $750 ($375 for each module)

Step 4: Radiant Child At-Home Mentorship Program
Credit Hours: 25

  • All students are required to finish their training with an at-home internship with a Radiant Child Yoga Trainer.
  • Mentor will be assigned to each student and can be in a different city from the student.

Step 5: Open Book Exam:

A take-home exam will be given at the completion of all of the above sessions. The exam will be due within 40 days of completion of the in-class sessions.

Considerations and Policies:

Refund Policy:

Refund deadline: April 30, 2012.

$75 admin fee applies to all refunds and credits.

No refund will be issued after the deadline. Instead, payment will be applied as credit toward a training course in the future.

Missed Sessions:

Students are encouraged to make it a priority to attend all course sessions in the order that they are presented. However, if a student has to miss a session due to unavoidable circumstances, he or she may make up that session the next time it is offered. There will be a $50 administration fee added to the price of the course. It will be the responsibility of the student to make all efforts to follow through in making up missed classes. No monies will be returned for the incompletion of the program with the unlikely exception of termination of program by trainer.

Qualifying RCY level 1-3:

All RCY Basic courses attended from 2009 onwards, taken with Shakta qualify for 95-hour and 200-hour pre-requisite.

If RCY Basic course was attended before 2009, or if the student attended the RCY Basic course with the RCY Facilitator proir to entering the certification program, the student may be required to audit a RCY Basic course with Shakta at no charge (course material fee may apply). Course certificate may be required for proof of attendance.

Yoga Alliance Registered Children's Yoga Teacher (RCYT) Status:

Students who has completed Radiant Child Family Yoga teacher training program may consider themselves RYT-200 with a specialty in Children's Yoga. However, according to Yoga Alliance, students must take training beyond the 200 hour level to gain the status of RCYT (Registered Children's Yoga Teacher). Therefore, one more module of 20 hours will be required for those in the 200-hour Radiant Child Family Yoga teacher training program if they want to become RCYT. The decision to continue beyond the 200 is entirely the decision of the student. The extra 20-hour module is completely optional and can be decided at any time in the future.

Open Book Exam:

A take-home exam will be given at the completion of all of the above sessions. The exam will be reviewed during course time, as well as sent via email, and will be due within 40 days of completion of the in-class sessions.

While Shakta Khalsa and the trainers of Radiant Child Yoga are dedicated to working with and supporting the students, they reserve the right to delay or deny certification to those who exhibit character or behavior that is deemed to be unethical and/or not in alignment with the program.

Radiant Child Family Yoga 95 hour Training (RCFY-95)

Yoga Alliance announced the formation of the 95-hour Children's yoga specialty, on Oct. 10, 2010. You can get started by taking RCY basic 30-hour training course if you have not already done so.

Those who are RYT-200 or RYT-500, as registered through Yoga Alliance may apply for the Specialty in Children's Yoga as recognized by Yoga Alliance. At the completion of the training, one may register as RCYT (Registered Childrens' Yoga Teacher).
