Children are naturally radiant,
aware, and full of innocent wisdom. Yoga helps them maintain
their natural radiance, or if their light has been dulled
by events in their lives, it helps them regain their inherent
state of being. |
Greetings, and welcome to childrensyoga.com!
I know that you care deeply about the quality
of life for your children or you wouldn't be here at our website.
I am Shakta Kaur Khalsa, creator of childrensyoga.com,
and author of Fly
Like A Butterfly: Yoga For Children. As a long-time
Kundalini Yoga teacher and Montessori educator, I realized that
children could effortlessly reap the benefits of yoga, as long
as it could speak to them. So back in 1981, my little classroom
came alive with children hopping around the room as "ribbiting"
frogs, hissing as cobra snakes, and balancing on one leg as tall
trees.
The class would then culminate in a dramatic change
of energy. These children who had just been robustly exercising
would lie down on the floor totally still, eyes closed. I would
then give them the tools to paint peaceful, relaxing pictures
in their minds and hearts. Their breath became the ocean - inhaling
waves upon the shore, exhaling and the waves returned to the sea.
As they gently brought themselves back to the classroom, they
had touched that still, calm center. My assistant, seeing the
transformation, begged me to do it with them every day. And that's
how it all started!
As one thing always seems to lead to another, teaching
children's yoga led to writing Fly
Like A Butterfly which then led to training teachers
and the formation of The Radiant Child
Yoga Program.
Feel free to look around our site, where you can
try some children's yoga, find out more about what we have to
offer, look for a children's yoga teacher in your area, and get
some inspiration about raising happy, healthy, spiritual children.
Enjoy with my best regards!
